Rotator Script

Description

Version 1.0.3 Put this script on an object and it turns: around X, Y and/or Z, around its own axes or the world axes, one full turn every N seconds, in either direction. Give degrees to an axis and it follows a path instead: to the end pose and stop (a door: the next click brings it back), there and back, or back and forth without end with a pause at each end, at constant speed or with a smooth start and stop. Several axes with their own degrees reach their end together; several axes without end make the object tumble. It starts when the scene loads, on a click, when an avatar touches it, or on a Script Event from an MPP - Action Button, and it posts its own events when it starts, stops and reaches each end of the path, so lamps and other scripts can follow. The motion is computed by the Sansar server and stays smooth for every visitor; a stopped object resumes exactly where it was. No scripting skills needed. Fully standalone; works with MPP - Action Button for Start / Stop / Reverse / Home buttons and with MPP - Light Switch for lamps that follow the object. ________________________________________ Key Features Motion • Axis X, Y, Z, each On/Off with its own Reverse switch; several axes at once (tumble) • Local axes (the object's own, whatever its tilt) or world axes • Speed in seconds per turn, from half a second to a day • Degrees per axis: 0 = without end, or a path to an end pose (720 = two turns) • Path Mode: one way (the next start comes back), there and back then stop, back and forth without end, with a pause at each end • Motion Mode: constant speed, smooth, ease in, ease out Four ways to start and stop • At scene load • By click, with a hover text when stopped and another when turning • By touch (collision or trigger volume), once per second per avatar • By Script Events: <prefix>_start, _stop, _toggle, _reverse, _return, from MPP - Action Button or any script Events sent to other scripts • <prefix>_started, _stopped, _arrived (end pose), _returned (start pose), with the avatar who started it: chain lamps, sounds or another rotator Access and anti-spam • Permission mode: owner only, owner + whitelist, everyone except a blacklist (handles or UUIDs); the owner always allowed • Hide the object from refused avatars, customizable refusal message • Per-visitor cooldown with a private "please wait" message showing the remaining time Sounds • Start sound, looping turning sound (faded out at stops and pauses), stop sound, one volume from 0 to 200 percent ________________________________________ Technical Details • 36 settings in six groups: Activation, Rotation, Access, Events, Sound, Debug • Requires "Movable from Script" on the object; physics none or Keyframed (Static or Dynamic refused with a clear warning) • Server-side motion: key poses interpolated by Sansar, smooth for every visitor; too fast settings are slowed down with a warning instead of jerking • Resumes by itself when another script moves the object: works on an MPP - MyMood item that follows its avatar • Warnings in the script console for a wrong setup (no axis, not movable, nothing can start it, unused list) • Optional Debug Logging with every start, stop, end of path and access decision ________________________________________ Example Uses • A ceiling fan or a windmill with its hum • A slowly turning planet, logo or display stand • A door or hatch opened and closed by click • A pendulum, a radar dish, a swinging sign • A control desk of Action Buttons: Start, Stop, Reverse, Home • Two doors opening together on one button ________________________________________ Full documentation online: https://mpp-mainstore.com/sansar/Rotator/ ________________________________________ Changelog — Version 1.0.3 • First release on the Store.
